With First Friday falling on July 4, Discover Lansdale is pitching a change-up this month.
Rather than First Friday, they are serving up a Second Saturday, this Saturday, when Old-Time Baseball teams up with the First Friday favorite features at Memorial Park.
Second Saturday brings baseball and barbecue back to the borough for one big day. Weaver Field in Memorial Park will host a turn-of-the-20th-century rules, day-long doubleheader featuring the Brandywine Base Ball Club against the Rising Sun (Md.) Base Ball Club.
Gloves? Who needs 'em? One hop? Yer out! Wool uniforms? Hot and scratchy!
Between games, enjoy great music and the best barbecue and other delights around the DiNunzio Gazebo at the center of the park.
Here's the July 12 lineup:
11 a.m. — Event kickoff (beer garden, vendors, food trucks, lawn games, fun - continues throughout the event).
Noon — Game One. (Brandywine vs. Rising Sun)
1:30 p.m. — Live Music (break between games)
3 p.m. — Game Two (Brandywine vs. Rising Sun)
Entertainment at the DiNunzio Gazebo will be DJ Tone Arm from 11-1:30; live music with Hootenanny Tweed from 1:30-4; and be sure to visit the special appearance of the Retroware Arcade Trailer!
In the beer garden: Well Crafted Beer, Boardroom Spirits, Round Guys, Ten7, Cardinal Hollow, and Shotz of Love. Food vendors will include Cannoneers, The Meat Wagon, Kono Pizza, Moshava, and The Main Freeze.
The Kids Zone will feature water Inflatables, so come ready with water wear and sunscreen: Baseball Moon Bounce, Strike Three Baseball, All American Water Slide, Dual Lane Slip & Dip, and Face Painting with Josep and Morgan.
And let’s not forget our doubleheader: The Lansdale Street Band will play the National Anthem at 11:45; and Brandywine will face the Rising Sun at noon and 3.
