The Souderton Area School Board Thursday, Jan. 23 renewed the Souderton Charter School Collaborative’s (SCSC) charter for another five-year period.

The charter will run from January 19, 2025 to January 19, 2030. The move marks the school’s sixth renewal since its 2000 founding. The school currently enrolls approximately 240 students from grades K-8.

The charter notably excludes an enrollment cap, a proposal floated by the board in 2023 that was vigorously opposed by the charter school.

Jenn Marion, SCSC, SCSC board president, said the new charter will serve the best interests of both the charter school and the district.

“It was a productive exercise and balancing it with charter school law and our independent priorities,” said Marion. “It was great to be a part of the process and to engage with the district in a new way. It’s my hope that this document will provide a solid foundation for our future.”

“I want to compliment both sides for coming together and coming to a resolution,” added board president Stephen Nelson. “I look forward to a lot of positive things in the future.”
