The Montgomery Township Center has water 'flowing down the halls' after a rooftop water line broke.
Calls into county dispatch for a “fire alarm” have resulted in the need for placement for over 140 patients of a skilled nursing facility in Montgomeryville Friday night.
According to county dispatch, calls for a fire alarm around 5:26 p.m. were actually for a “water flow” alarm. Units were requested to respond to 640 Bethlehem Pike in Montgomery Township on Friday evening, Jan. 24. The location is the Montgomeryville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, which experienced a water main break from its roof. Reports to dispatch stated that water was flooding the second floor of the Center, forcing the evacuation of the entire second floor. Water was said to be “flowing down the halls.”
Those at the scene have stated that the call was actually a broken water main, which has caused flooding in a portion of the building. Due to the incident, a reported 140 people have been displaced from the space, and the staff is working still at this hour to relocate the patients in their care.
Units were called from VMSC Lansdale, Montgomery Township Fire Department, and North Penn Fire Company, among other first responders to assist at the scene. Montgomery County medical services’ transportation units are currently being called now, just past 8 p.m., to the scene to assist in the movement of the patients.
