A Norristown man who was taken into custody last month by Lansdale Police on several outstanding warrants has been charged with dealing and possessing crack cocaine.

Jevon Lamar Vaughn aka Jevon Cutty, 37, of the 600 block of Corson Street, was charged Tuesday by Lansdale Police with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication device, as well as misdemeanor charges of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, stemming from a Dec. 15 incident, according to court documents.

On Dec. 15 at 10:57 p.m., Vaughn was taken into custody at the Kenilworth Court Apartments at 349 W. Sixth St. at 10:57 p.m., police said. During a search of Vaughn, police allegedly found 40 heat-sealed baggies with white powdery rock-like substances, suspected to be crack cocaine, in his right pocket of his pants and $140 cash in the other pocket.

Two cell phones were also found on Vaughn and secured as evidence, due to the circumstances and seizure of drugs on him, police said. All in all, the baggies weighed a total of 12.5 grams, per the affidavit.

Vaughn admitted to owning both phones and gave permission to search their contents, police said. The search revealed alleged conversations and photographs indicative of drug trafficking and the sale of controlled substances, per the complaint.

Police said Vaughn confirmed that the drugs were his own and confessed to getting them from a supplier in Philadelphia and revealed how much he would receive in payment for selling an eighth ounce.

The drugs were not field tested, for fear they were heroin or fentanyl, which are easily absorbed through the skin, police said. They were sent out for lab testing, police said.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, small doses of fentanyl, even 0.25 mg, can be fatal.

Vaughn was jailed on $5,077 cash bail, which includes a probation/parole detainer. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8 at 9:30 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
