The National Weather Service is predicting a snow event for Friday afternoon into the evening, with a possibility of larger snow amounts from Sunday into Monday.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 3 to 10 p.m. on Friday. A weak system is expected to pass through the Philadelphia region late Friday, bringing a chance of light snowfall, while high pressure will build to the west, resulting in cold and dry conditions over the weekend, according to the NWS.

A low-pressure system will move from the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic from Sunday night into Monday, likely resulting in more widespread snowfall accumulations.

Following this, cold and dry high pressure will prevail across the region through the end of the week, with below normal temperatures. Forecasts predict 1 to 2 inches for Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties, as well as southwestern New Jersey, per the NWS.

Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid to upper 30s and low 40s before precipitation arrives on Friday. A wave of low pressure will bring rain and snow showers south of I-78, with temperatures right for rain first, but cooling into the evening will lead to mostly snow by late afternoon or early evening. This could cause hazardous road conditions during the Friday evening commute.

Cold temperatures will remain in place after Friday night’s cold front, with temperatures hovering around freezing on Saturday. Westerly winds of 15 to 20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph, will lead to "feel-like" temperatures in the teens to low 20s on Saturday, dropping close to single digits on Saturday night.

For the storm arriving Sunday night into Monday, it is predicted to bring 2-4 inches of snow, though forecasters said it is too early for an accurate prediction. There is high confidence in some accumulating snowfall for the region.
