Traffic was temporarily impacted as crews worked to put out the flames of a fire caused by downed power lines in Montgomery Township on Sunday evening.
According to county dispatch, calls came into the emergency center around 7:21 p.m. for the report of an electrical fire outside on Sunday, Feb. 16. Dispatch noted that a transformer was blown in the 600 block of North Wales Road, in Montgomeryville, causing a nearby tree to set fire. The incident was reported to be near the traffic light at the entrance of Dick's Sporting Goods.
No injuries were reported at this time. Those at the scene said that a tree had fallen on the road, causing the downed lines and blown transformer. Traffic at North Wales Road, near Bethlehem Pike, was slowed as crews worked to make the area safe.
Reporting to the scene were units from Montgomery Township Fire Department, among other area first responders. More information will be published as it is made available.
