A fire Sunday night in Lower Salford Township destroyed two homes, displaced three families, including a 5-month-old, and killed one dog.

Harleysville Fire Chief Ryan Nase said the fire call came in at 7:12 p.m. for a garage fire spreading to rowhomes.

Nase said the fire affected two houses and smoke and water damage affected a third home.

Upon arrival, crews found a heavy fire and many hand lines were placed in service, Nase said.

The fire was under control by 11:15 p.m.

Nase said the fire remains under investigation. Initial reports Sunday said the fire originated in a garage with propane tanks.
