Director Timothy MacBain looks back on student successes, board transitions, and the shared work of serving the community
Dear North Penn Community,
The days seem to be passing by quicker and the frigid temperatures and snow last week reminded us that the final weeks of our year have arrived. Our calendars are filled with those familiar traditions which mark the end of one year and the start of new chapters: concerts, gatherings of families and friends, travel plans, and more. As we reflect back at the fall of 2025 here in North Penn, there is no shortage of reminders of what our common cares and labors can achieve. In the past few months we’ve celebrated:
This snapshot of our community’s student successes illustrates once again what can be accomplished through the unique and incredible commitments of our students, staff, and families who go above and beyond for each other.
The end of the calendar year also brings transformations. The winter months and holiday seasons come at a time of year when we feel many worthy, but often exhausting, pulls upon our time and energies. As we work to fill the cups of our loved ones and neighbors, we may also find ourselves reflecting on how to best share and care for others while still resolving to take care of ourselves in the new year. Just as the needs of our families and communities may change, so must we reflect, consider, and adjust how we give of our time and efforts. As you know, two such transformations recently came along with the opening of two seats on our board.
With a deep gratitude for the strong foundation we have built together, and an eagerness to revitalize and strengthen our ability to serve our community with transparency, we took up the task of appointing two new members. Over the past few weeks, sixteen neighbors who are already leading lives of service in their communities stepped up. Each of these neighbors deserves our thanks. Following their applications and preliminary interviews, we interviewed four applicants in a public, live-streamed meeting, as we believe transparency is essential. I would like to honor each of the applicants who spoke to us and the community, as each gave of themselves with honesty and integrity. Thank you for stepping up to act!
Following this process, we selected two North Penn parents who have spent significant portions of their professional careers supporting students and teachers as both educators and educational leaders. Both raised the importance of collaboration, recognized civil disagreement as the first step towards more effective solutions, and demonstrated a steadfast, student-centered approach. I look forward to continuing our work with the valuable insights and energies of Mr. Mark Teoh and Mr. Daniel Bell. I’m certain you’ll be hearing from them both in the year ahead.
And so, my friends, as we celebrate, gather, reflect, and embrace the change that a new year brings, know that we are grateful for the steps we have taken together, and that we now look ahead to again serve our students and families with that same resolution and essential community spirit which defines our North Penn School District.
With best wishes,
Timothy MacBain
