Nick Sirianni has 'a lot of confidence' in Jake Elliott

For better or for worse, Jake Elliott is going to remain the kicker for the Eagles.

Nick Sirianni said as much Monday, as noted by John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia

“I have a lot of confidence in Jake, I love the roster the way it is and like I said, I have a ton of confidence in him with Jake and that he'll rebound from whatever setbacks that he has," Sirianni said.

Elliott went 0-for-2 on field goal attempts in Saturday's win over the Washington Commanders, missing both a 43-yarder and a 52-yarder wide left in the second quarter. Prior to the 52-yarder, he missed a 57-yard attempt to the left, but an offsides penalty on Washington negated it.

The former Pro Bowler has made just 17 of 24 field-goal attempts this season, and currently has a career-low 70.8% field goal percentage.

This comes after Elliott struggled last regular season as well, making just one of seven attempts of 50 yards or more. The 30-year-old has made four of eight attempts of 50+ yards this season, so he's had a relative bounce back in that sense, but struggled more overall.

In Elliott's defense, while he had some miscues on extra points early last postseason, he rebounded in terms of field-goal kicking, making 10 of 11 attempts en route to winning a title.

Rather than consider alternatives, Sirianni said he's going to trust the process with the two-time Super Bowl Champion kicker.

"It's always about your process," Sirianni continued. "I think Jake always has a great process going in and the week of work leading up to it. I think it's always important that everybody needs to know their loved and appreciated. My love and appreciation for Jake isn't just when you guys ask me questions about it, but also in times like this, you want to make sure you reconfirm those things. And I think we've seen Jake, he's had such a great career with so many highs, but like any player, he's had some moments of struggle as well, and all I've ever seen him do was get up out of that and rise from that.

"I know he went through some struggles last year and ended up having however many field goals and extra points in the Super Bowl and in the NFC championship game. So I have no doubt in my mind of the competitor he is and the way and how mentally tough he is to be able to rise from this situation as well.”
