The Powerball® jackpot is now offering players a chance to win a historic prize worth $1.5 billion or $686.5 million cash in for the next drawing Saturday.

Saturday’s jackpot ranks as the fifth largest in the Powerball® game and the seventh largest among U.S. lottery jackpots.

In Pennsylvania, this recent jackpot run has generated nearly $100 million in sales, creating a profit of more than $40 million to benefit older Pennsylvanians.

Although there were no jackpot winners, two winning Powerball® tickets were sold in Pennsylvania in the Wednesday, December 17 drawing, that are worth a combined total of $1.2 million. This includes one prize worth $1 million sold at a Pennsylvania Lottery retailer in Luzerne County, and one other prize worth $200,000 sold in Beaver County.

Congratulations to Midway Beverage, 1152 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming Boro, Luzerne County, for selling the $1 million-winning Powerball® ticket. The ticket matched five of the five white balls drawn, 25-33-53-62-66, to win $1 million, less applicable withholding. The retailer will earn a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

The Lottery is also congratulating Walmart, 100 Chippewa Town Center, Chippewa Township, Beaver County, for selling a $200,000-winning Powerball® with Power Play® ticket. The ticket matched four of the five white balls drawn, 25-33-53-62-66, and the red Powerball® 17 to win $200,000, less applicable withholding. Without the $1 Power Play® option, the ticket would have been worth $50,000. The Power Play® multiplier drawn was four. This retailer will earn a $500 bonus for selling the ticket.

More than 182,200 other PA Lottery Powerball® tickets won prizes of various amounts in the drawing, including more than 37,800 tickets purchased with Power Play® and more than 19,300 tickets purchased with Double Play®. Players should check every ticket, every time.

Pennsylvania Lottery games, such as Powerball®, continue to create life-changing moments for winners, and these moments are stories worth celebrating. Lucky winners of $10,000 or more are encouraged to reach out to the Lottery to share their winning story and join the thousands of other winners in the Winners’ Circle.

Winners are not known until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball® winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. Winning tickets purchased at a Lottery retailer should immediately be signed on the back. Online winnings automatically appear in a player’s account after the claim has been processed. Players may visit palottery.com for more information about how to file a claim.

Pennsylvania Lottery players have options to purchase their Powerball® tickets online or by visiting a retailer. Players can find lottery-selling locations closest to them by visiting the Find a Retailer section of the Lottery’s website.

The Lottery is also reminding players that it is participating in the National Council on Problem Gambling’s annual Gift Responsibly Campaign. This campaign raises awareness that Lottery products are not appropriate gifts for children and encourages responsible gifting during the holiday season.
