To say that the Eagles made quick work of the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday would be putting it mildly.
In fact, Sports Reference's "Stathead" says that the the 31-0 victory was the quickest Eagles game in the system's history, which dates back to 1999:
At 2:31, the Eagles win today appears to be the shortest since at least 1999, which is as far back as STATHEAD has time of games available . . .
A major contributing factor to the short run time of Sunday's win is that the Eagles ran the ball 47 times, with both Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby getting at least 17 carries. The Eagles ran for 183 yards as a team, which sounds good, but it was 3.9 yards per carry, so nothing particularly special. But running the ball keeps the clock running, and the Eagles did that Sunday. The Raiders also didn't mount any real effort in the game, so it's not as though Pete Carroll was calling a bunch of timeouts or advising his players to get out of bounds to stop the clock late.
The Eagles have only played two other games under three hours this season, a 20-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2 and a 38-20 victory over the New York Giants in Week 8. The win against the Chiefs at Arrowhead was the next-shortest game at two hours and 56 minutes, putting in perspective just how quickly Sunday's win went by.
