Army National Guard Soldiers, Blue Star mothers and military wives visited the school to assist kindergarteners in their mission to spread holiday cheer across the globe
Last week, kindergarten students at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer School in Montgomery Township played Santa by stuffing stockings with treats, as well as making Christmas cards, to send a little taste of home to troops serving overseas.
Over the last few weeks, the students worked to collect thousands of snacks and self-care items for troops, according to a news release.
Army National Guard Soldiers, Blue Star mothers and military wives visited the school to assist these little patriots in their mission to spread holiday cheer across the globe.
To cover shipping costs, the Project Peace Club at MMR sponsored a patriotic dress down day, according to the release.
As part of this experience, the kindergarteners learned about veterans and discussed ways they can be good citizens in their school and in their communities, according to the school.
"They were thrilled to say 'Thank you' to our military heroes who provide the freedoms we enjoy," said Lisa Gervais, advancement/enrollment director at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer School.
