As firefighters battled a major 3-alarm apartment fire at Hatfield Village Apartments in Hatfield Township, a restaurant in neighboring Hatfield Borough has offered up a place for those affected from the blaze to regroup and get a free meal.

"We are heartbroken to hear about the fire ,,, and the devastating losses our neighbors are facing," wrote Poppy's Tavern on Facebook. "If you were directly impacted, please know that our doors are open to you."

Poppy's Tavern said the restaurant is a place for residents or first responders to come in, take a moment to regroup, and get served a free meal on Thursday.

"Our community is strongest when we stand together, and we're here for you," wrote Poppy's Tavern.

The Hatfield restaurant at the old Hattricks Sports Bar & Grill location on Lincoln Avenue is owned by Shane and and Jessica Dawson. They opened their bar and restaurant in September 2024.

Poppy’s Tavern offers a menu, with a variety of foods and cuisines, and the usual burgers and cheesesteaks, as well as an updated, modernized beer selection – like Free Will Brewing, Fiddlehead Brewing, Dogfish Head Brewery, and Konig Ludwig.

The tavern has 18 rotating taps inside and six taps outside on its full pet-friendly outside bar. Takeout beer is also available.

According to its website, Poppy's Tavern's goal is to give back to the communities of Hatfield, Souderton, Harleysville, Towamencin and beyond. It partners with children's groups, pet rescues and other local organizations for events and activities.

It offers private events in an outdoor party space and live music and events.

Poppy's Tavern is open Monday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to midnight. It is located 64 E. Lincoln Ave. and can be reached at 215-393-8540.
