The annual carnival on the grounds of Mater Dei featured food, music, dancing, family fun, and endless memories
For 64 years, the St. Stanislaus Summer Festival has marked the end of summer for the Lansdale area, and it returned last week with five nights of food, fun, games, music, and beer.
“Back in 1961, the parishioners of St. Stanislaus took a break from an escalating Cold War, the construction of the Berlin Wall, and the continuing war in Vietnam to inaugurate the annual St. Stanislaus Summer Festival,” states the festival website. “Now, warm nights, great music, plenty of snacks and beverages are the perfect accompaniments for this annual summer event. Ours is the most continuous carnival/festival in the area.”
The festival kicked off Tuesday at the Mater Dei Catholic School grounds at Third Street and Lansdale Avenue.
Good Times Amusement ran the rides and the two-night Family Wristband Nights returned.
New to the festival this year were Axe Throwing, Chucking Chicken, Can Slam, and Escape Rooms.
Attendees were able to seek respite and quench famished stomaches with Chef Chipper's cuisines, The Main Freeze ice cream and water ice, and beer and slushies from the Local Tap-sponsored Beer Garden under a covered seating area.
At the front of the seated area and adjacent to the beer was the main stage, which featured bands Big Willie Band, Stranger Things, Highway Run, GruvTyme, and Funzaluv.
