The Go-To Document Tools for Writing and Sharing in China

  • News from our partners

When you learn Mandarin online or work with an online Chinese teacher, you quickly realize that language learning is also about understanding the digital tools that shape daily life in China. From universities to tech companies, people rely on a set of apps for writing, editing, and sharing documents, and knowing them can make your studies and work in China much smoother.

At the top of the list is WPS Office (金山办公), developed by Kingsoft, which offers Word-, Excel-, and PowerPoint-style programs but with cloud sync and mobile integration that’s perfectly adapted for China’s fast-paced work style. Tencent Docs (腾讯文档) is another essential—it’s built for real-time collaboration, seamlessly integrated with WeChat and QQ so people can share and edit without juggling multiple platforms. Shimo Docs (石墨文档) takes a Google Docs-like approach but with a clean interface and powerful permissions control, making it a favorite for startups.

For teams using messaging platforms, DingTalk Docs (钉钉文档) by Alibaba and WeCom Docs (企业微信文档) by Tencent offer built-in file sharing and cloud editing within corporate chat environments. Many freelancers and students also use Baidu Wenku (百度文库) for browsing, downloading, and sharing academic or reference documents, and Docin (豆丁网) serves a similar role for public document sharing. Even Xiumi (秀米) and Canva China versions, while mainly for design, are widely used for creating polished visual reports and newsletters that often accompany formal documents.

New expressions have emerged around these tools in recent years, especially in remote work culture. Learning how Chinese people talk about “协作” (collaboration) or “共享文档” (shared documents) adds a real-world edge to language study—and schools like GoEast Mandarin help bridge that gap. They connect you with the way modern China works and communicates, sometimes using these tools as practice in lessons.

Mastering these platforms like WPS, Tencent Docs or DingTalk Docs, is an unspoken skill for anyone looking to thrive in studies, business, or daily life in the country.
