Hatfield Police updated the public via Facebook Wednesday morning on the March 25 chase, with no suspect yet identified
Hatfield Police have solved the mysterious police chase, which did not involve their officers, that damaged property at Twin Woods Golf Course on East Orvilla Road on the afternoon of March 25.
In a Facebook update Wednesday morning, police said that the incident was a Pennsylvania State Police chase and that agency will be investigating the incident.
Police said the vehicle involved was a black BMW, whose driver went onto the golf course property, sped across the lawn area and then re-entered westbound East Orvilla Road.
Investigators only have a partial registration plate of the BMW and no suspect has been identified, police said.
"Our investigation into this incident consisted of us interviewing witnesses and tracking down any videos we can find, all with the hope of assisting Pennsylvania State Police with apprehending the driver of the BMW," police said.
Hatfield Police said State police were in Hatfield Township because they have jurisdiction on every road in the Commonwealth, although Hatfield Police does not work for them and vice versa.
The investigation is ongoing.
Hatfield Police are asking residents of East Orvilla Road to check home security cameras for footage of the chase. Neighbors should share any information on the event with Hatfield Police, to be shared with State police.
Police thanked anyone who already came forward with information.
“Both Hatfield Police Department and PSP are working to solve this incident so the property owner at the golf course can be made whole. If anyone is wondering, fleeing from the police is a crime. Fleeing and then damaging property is another issue altogether. If this person is caught, they will be prosecuted,” police said.
