Known for their electric live performance, Pittsburgh-based pop punk band Old Neon has spent the last three years growing their profile by headlining clubs, supporting national tours from acts like The Spill Canvas and Knuckle Puck, performing at Four Chord Music Festival, and more.

Performing at Round Guys Brewing Co. in Lansdale on April 17 at 7:30 p.m., the band – singer Drew Sipos, guitarists Bea Langer and Mike McInnes, bassist Sean Michael, and drummer Zach Pollack – will soon kick off a tour in support of their forthcoming 5-song EP, “Resolution,” set to be released May 23.

The album has ties to the Lansdale area – the EP is produced and engineered by The Wonder Years guitarist and Lansdale native Matt Brasch and mixed by The Wonder Years's other guitarist/Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties drummer and Lansdale native Nick Steinborn and mastered by ex-Schoolly D drummer Will Yip (The Menzingers, Scowl, Balance & Composure, Movements, L.S. Dunes) of Studio 4 Recording in Conshohocken.

The record consists of five songs “about fighting and making things work.”

“Resolution is about fighting and making things work,” said Pollack. “Whether it's regarding our internal struggles through making this EP, or the moments in time spoken to in the lyrics of each song - Resolution is about pushing forward when it's really tough, because it's worth it.”

Brasch said Old Neon not only made things work on this EP, they succeeded in stepping up their craft as songwriters and performers throughout the process.

“Months of workshopping different ideas went into writing and rewriting the songs. The details that came out of those efforts are what makes this EP so special,” Brasch said. “They dug deep for beautiful and explosive performances and even kept their minds open to making changes that stemmed from a few ‘mistakes.’ Those specific changes quickly became some of my favorite parts of the EP.”

Brasch said Old Neon pushed through grueling 13-hour days and did it all with passion, and the help of a bunch of Coke Zero, Wawa Mac n Cheese, and jokes that had everyone in stitches.

“We’re so proud of how everything organically came together and that only happens when everyone is willing to work hard and battle for every idea,” Brasch said.

Sipos said the lead single is a song about being able to rely on yourself after you have been abandoned by someone you love.

“We wrote this song as a reminder that you can grow through anything, and one day when that person who left you comes to their senses and wants you back in their life, you should make it your goal to be too good for them. You don’t need anyone else to be complete, you are enough!” Sipos said.

From April 17-20, Old Neon will be performing at Launch Music Conference ahead of a short spring tour and they embark on a weekend tour with Afloat and Mud Whale around the release of “Resolution” in May.

Upcoming tour dates include April 24 with Keep Flying at The Funhouse in Pittsburgh; May 22 at Fringe Bar in Philadelphia; May 23 at Bottlerocket in Pittsburgh; May 24 at Dirty Dungarees in Columbus, OH; and May 25 at The Southgate House Revival in Newport, KY.
