Five fire agencies responded to the 800 block of Yorktown Street shortly before 1 a.m.
Five area fire agencies worked together to quickly knock down a fully involved attached garage fire early Monday morning on Yorktown Street in Lansdale Borough.
At 12:54 a.m., units from Fairmount Fire Co. of Lansdale were dispatched to the 800 block of Yorktown Street for a fully-engulfed garage fire, with flames coming out of the roof, according to county dispatch reports.
Fairmount Fire Co. said the fire originated on the exterior of the garage and began extending into the attic space and home, police said.
“Thanks to our quick response and efficient teamwork, crews were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, preventing extensive damage to the structure,” wrote the fire company on its Facebook. “The family was safely able to evacuate the home. This incident serves as a reminder to always maintain working smoke detectors and have an emergency evacuation plan in place for your family.”
Fairmount was assisted at the scene by Fire Department of Montgomery Township, North Penn Volunteer Fire Company, Colmar Volunteer Fire Company, Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Department, Lansdale Borough Police Department, and VMSC Emergency Medical Services.
