On April 2, 1900, the police department began protecting and serving Lansdale Borough
Tuesday marks a historic milestone for the Lansdale Borough Police Department — 125 years of dedication, service, and commitment to our community!
On this day in 1900, the Lansdale Borough Council appointed Charles F. Kulp as the town’s first police officer, laying the foundation for a department that has grown and evolved alongside the borough.
From working out of his own home at 106 Courtland Street to leading a department that now operates 24/7, 365 days a year, our officers have always been steadfast in their duty to protect and serve.
From a one-man operation to a team of 45 dedicated personnel today, the department has seen many changes—but our mission remains the same: ensuring the safety and well-being of Lansdale residents.
Under the leadership of Chief Michael Trail, we continue to uphold the values of professionalism, service, and community partnership.
With over 20,000 calls for service annually, our officers, detectives, and support staff work tirelessly to keep Lansdale a safe place to live, work, and visit.
As we reflect on our rich history, we also look forward to the future—committed as ever to serving this incredible community.
We will be sharing photos from our 125 years of history throughout the year.
