Located at 225 S. Main St., J. Walter Snyder built a new service station in 1939.
The modern, well-equipped garage was 60 x 80 feet and had two large doors in the front - one for cars to enter that were to be washed, and one for cars that were to be put on the hoist for greasing.
Snyder operated his business until his retirement in 1970. The garage is now home to Godshall's Auto Service.
"My Uncle Walter's garage!" wrote Susan Richhart Camuso on the Society's Facebook post. "When I was a little kid, I (and at least one of my cousins) used to like jumping on the air hose that made the bell ring to alert them that someone had pulled in for gas. I'm pretty sure Uncle Walter and the gentlemen who worked for him didn't mind too much when we left!"
