Montgomery County historic house Pennypacker Mills is hosting three family-friendly events this fall to celebrate the history of Halloween. The festivities include spooky silent movies, traditional fall-fest activities with a Halloween costume contest, and an evening of chilling ghost stories around a cozy campfire. All events are free with a suggested $2 donation per person.

Ghost Stories by the Fire

Saturday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Gather around the campfire for spine tingling ghost stories brought to life by renowned storyteller and author, Charles J. Adams III. Adams is an expert in local legends- in fact, he literally wrote the book on Montgomery County Ghost Stories! Kick off spooky season at Pennypacker Mills with Ghost Stories by the Fire!

Please bring a blanket or chair to sit on during the performance. This performance is recommended for ages 13 and up. This event is sponsored by the Friends of Pennypacker Mills.

All Hallows Eve Fall Festival

Saturday, Oct. 19 from Noon to 4 p.m.

Pennypacker Mills will host its annual All Hallows Eve Fall Festival. Everyone is welcome to visit and enjoy a day of free fall fun! The whole family will enjoy playing games, taking a hayride around the property, making crafts, and painting pumpkins. The old-fashioned festivities will include corn shucking, pressing apples into cider, playing in hay piles, and much more. Everyone is encouraged to get in the Halloween spirit and wear a costume! Prizes will be given for costumes and for completing our special scavenger hunt. The Mansion will not be open for tours during the Fall Festival.

Halloween Silent Movies

Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.

Visit the Classroom Building at Pennypacker Mills on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. for a showing of four short Halloween-themed silent movies. View early classics like The Haunted Castle and Frankenstein. See how special effects in film evolved at the turn of the century. Pre-registration is required, call 610-287-9349 to pre-register.
