Will The Eagles Dominate the NFC East This Season?

The Philadelphia Eagles had to settle for second place in the NFC East standings last season which made their Super Bowl path much tougher than many of their rivals. Their 11-6 record was bettered by the Dallas Cowboys, who landed the title after finishing the regular season 12-5.

Head coach Nick Sirianni will be desperate for his players to lock in the top spot in the standings at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. He will also be challenging his players to land the number one seed in the NFC Championship, just like they did in 2022.

Saquon Barkley Signing Is a Big Boost for Offense

Philadelphia’s biggest signing in the offseason was running back Saquon Barkley from divisional rivals New York Giants. He joined back in March, signing a three-year deal worth $37.75.

The Eagles are +1300 to win the Super Bowl this season, and anybody considering backing the NFC East team should consider a promo code with one of the leading sportsbooks. You can get paid back with Caesars up to $1000 when you place your first bet with them on the NFL season in 2024. With Barkley in their offense, Philadelphia will have one of the strongest rushing options in the league this year.

Barkley has rushed for over 5,000 yards since he was drafted by the Giants in 2018. He scored 15 all-purpose touchdowns in his rookie season. If he can contribute something similar this year, it will be a huge boost to the Eagles.

Jalen Hurts Likely to Be in MVP Conversation

Quarterback Jalen Hurts has been in the regular season MVP mix in each of the last two seasons and he should be a strong contender once again in 2024. Hurts was 14-1 through his 15 games in 2022, while in 2023, it was another strong year for the QB, as he threw for a career-best 3,858 yards in the NFL passing standings.

Hurts is one of the best dual quarterbacks in the NFL. He can have success against teams with his arm and his feet. With Barkley now behind him, it takes some pressure off his rushing game. However, with Kellen Moore as the offensive coordinator, it would be no surprise to see Hurts often dialed up to run with the ball, especially on third downs.

Just like many teams in the NFL, a lot of Philadelphia’s hopes rest on Hurts. If he stays fit and has a good season, Eagles fans will expect to win the NFC East title and go deep into the playoffs, at the very least.

Defense Must Prove Itself in the Post-Cox Era

Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox was one of the three players who chose to retire at the end of last season, along with Jason Kelce and DeVante Parker. Cox has been a big leader in the Eagles’ defense since 2012, so it is a big loss.

Philadelphia signed defensive end Bryce Huff and safety C. J. Gardner-Johnson in the offseason from the New York Jets and Detroit Lions respectively. Those two players will boost the strength of the new-look defense.

The Eagles begin the 2024/25 NFL season against the Green Bay Packers in week one in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
