  • Things To Do

Back in 1947, Lansdale had a big celebration for the 75th anniversary of incorporation. One of the highlights was a dance which took place on the playground of the Green Street School (Green Street and York Avenue).

A young man named Ed Holl had put together a band in the 1930s, playing the Big Band tunes of the day. It was the last time they played together until ...

Flash forward to 1972 when Lansdale celebrated its Centennial. On opening day, after three weeks of preliminary events, a Centennial Ball was held at the Holiday Inn. Senator Edwin G. Holl recreated his band from 1947 and played many of the same songs from 25 years ago.

This Monday, at the Lansdale Borough Hall, starting at 7 p.m, come and relive the 1972 Lansdale Centennial (or find out about it for the first time). The program will include many colorful pictures of parades, the Queen and her Court, Brothers of the Brush, Centennial Belles and much more.
