Drivers with medical issues now have a way to talk to emergency responders during a traffic crash when they may not be able to communicate during the incident, thanks to a yellow decal on the rear window.

Area police agencies, including Lansdale Borough Police, take part in the Yellow Dot program.

According to Lansdale Police, the program assists citizens in the “golden hour” of emergency care following a crash.

“Placing a Yellow Dot decal on your vehicle’s rear widow alerts first responders to check your glove compartment for vital information to ensure you receive the medical attention you need,” police said.

Lansdale Police, and other agencies, are taking part in the cooperative effort with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the state departments of Health and Aging, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

Yellow Dot decals are available at Lansdale Police headquarters 24 hours a day in the lobby at 1 Vine Street, Lansdale.

Drivers can complete and submit a form to receive a Yellow Dot kit in the mail via this link.
