A Lansdale woman has been charged with felony aggravated assault for attempting to stab a roommate Tuesday night in an incident on Walnut Street.

Jane Ann McMillin, 56, of the 600 block of Walnut Street, was also charged Tuesday with misdemeanor possessing an instrument of crime, misdemeanor simple assault, and misdemeanor reckless endangerment, according to court records.

McMillin is free on 10% of $5,000 cash bail, posted on Wednesday, per court records.

On Tuesday, at 8:07 p.m., police responded to a report of an armed subject on the 600 block of Walnut Street in Lansdale Borough. Police said a witness and caller reported that a roommate, identified as McMillin, was armed with a knife and refusing to separate from another roommate in the residence.

Upon arrival, police found McMillin outside the home, and spoke with the roommates. One of the victims told police McMillin attacked her with a kitchen or butcher knife while she was watching TV, police said.

McMillin, according to the complaint, came from behind and made two quick stabbing motions with the knife, before the victim turned around and attempted to knock the knife out of McMillin’s hand.

Another witness told police McMillin came downstairs, entered the kitchen, and then entered the living room with the knife in her right hand, per the affidavit.

McMillin made two “successive downward stabbing motions towards (the victim’s) head and neck with the knife in her hand,” according to the complaint.

Police said McMillin failed to stab the victim and the knife instead stabbed the fabric and cushion of the couch.

The victim, after turning around, engaged in a hand-to-hand struggle with McMillin, police allege, who eventually pinned the defendant to the wall and slammed her wrist against the wall in order to knock the knife out of McMillin’s hand.

THe knife, police said, fell to the floor. A McCook-brand kitchen knife was found on the living room floor, police said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Edward Levine.

According to court records, McMillin is awaiting two trials in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court stemming from two separate arrests by Lansdale Police – She was charged with five misdemeanor DUI offenses in a June 2023 arrest, and was charged with four misdemeanor DUI offenses in a May 2023 arrest.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
