Two male juveniles, aged 16 and 17, have been arrested by New Britain Township Police in a case involving a stolen car and thefts from vehicles.
In both cases, police said the cars were unlocked and had keys inside the vehicle.
On Sunday, Oct. 20, at 6:25 a.m., police were dispatched to two different addresses on Holly Drive for an investigation into an attempted theft from a vehicle and a vehicle theft in progress, police said.
Upon arrival at 6:28 a.m., the juveniles were gone with a stolen Volkswagen Atlas, police said.
Ring Camera footage showed one juvenile attempting to open two cars in a driveway, police allege, but they were locked.
A white Subaru, possibly a Crosstrek, is seen in the footage driving slowly in front of the home on Holly Drive, keeping pace with the suspect, police said.
Police requested the Volkswagen owner contact VW customer service to see if they could track the car, per the report. Officers then checked the area for the stolen Volkswagen and the white Subaru, police said.
The Subaru Crosstrek was found in the Giant Food Store parking lot, 4275 County Line Road, and police attempted to stop the driver, police said.
The Subaru fled the lot into the Highlands neighborhood, until it stopped at Highlands and Manor drives due to mechanical issues, police said.
Police surrounded the car and took the offenders into custody, police said. The Subaru was stolen from Applecross Circle in the overnight hours, unbeknownst to the owner, per the report.
The stolen VW was tracked to a tree line near the Chalfont Fire Department substation on East Schoolhouse Road, police said.
Prior to the incident, on Friday, Oct. 18, at 9:01 a.m., New Britain Township Police were dispatched to investigate a recovered stolen car, police said, which was a gray VW Atlas, which had not yet been reported stolen by its owner.
The car was found on Glennbrook Way, and its key was recovered, along with other stolen property related to the above-mentioned stolen vehicles, police said.
Police remind homeowners not to leave keys in cars and do not leave cars unlocked in your driveway or on the street.
New Britain Township Police were assisted in the investigation by Central Bucks Regional Police Department, Doylestown Township Police Department, Plumstead Township Police Department, and Warrington Township Police Department & K9 Jolie.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
