Bigham Law celebrated its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 5 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Located at 206 N. Main Street, the law firm runs the gamut of legal services, offering representation in criminal and civil defense as well as personal injury, family law, employment law, estates, business law and more.
“What I do is everything that goes in front of a judge or jury,” said owner Ed Bigham.
Bigham began his career as a public defender in Philadelphia in the 1990s before opening his own law practice in 2005, with offices in Norristown and Philadelphia. After working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bigham felt the time had come to reopen an office.
“It felt like it was time,” said Bigham. “Everybody was back out; everything was opening up. So we started looking for space, and we found this building.”
Built in 1920, the Bigham Law building was originally a grocery store and pharmacy before falling into disrepair. After purchasing the space in 2007, business owner Charlie Crown renovated and restored the historic building. Bigham described the space as the “perfect spot.”
“It’s a really high traffic location,” said Bigham. “And Souderton’s a great little town.”
“We just love the community here” added wife Nicole Bigham, who manages the firm. “We live in Hatfield, so it’s about five minutes from our house.”
The Bighams moved into the building in June and have already received a few walk-ins. They stressed that their firm’s community-oriented mindset sets it apart from other law firms.
“Our focus is helping people within the community,” said Nicole. “There are a lot of lawyers and law firms out there whose focus is their business, and we really want to focus on the people and their needs.”
Moving forward, the Bighams hope that their new Souderton office will enable them to expand their client base and eventually hire employees.
“Our thought it to hire teenagers, high school kids that are interested in law, so we can mentor them and keep them interested in law, whether it’s a lawyer, paralegal, a legal secretary,” said Nicole. “That’s what our goal is.”
“Long-term, Nicole and I would like to fit into this community,” added Ed Bigham. “We’d like to be part of this community for as long as you’ll have us, to be one of the important businesses in Souderton.”
