One of the oldest continuous business locations in Lansdale is tucked away behind the post office at St. Elmo & Pallette streets.

The inconspicuous garage-like building has housed a beverage distributor since at least 1935 when Charles B. Trumbauer began to distribute beer.

By 1940, Trumbauer was distributing Nehi sodas by the case as well. The business has always been a drive-thru, a feature that used to fascinate me as a child in the 1950s.

Trumbauer eventually retired to Florida, where he lived to the fine old age of 101. The business is now owned by Lansdale Beverage Co. It remains the area’s only drive-thru distributor.
