Halloween is for canines too.

Montgomery Mall and Montgomery County LGBT Business Council founder and event planner Richard Buttacavoli, of Lansdale, who also runs Ricky’s Pride PAC, host the 3rd Annual Montgomery Mall Doggy Halloween Costume Contest Parade, Sidewalks Sale, and Canine Expo on Saturday afternoon at Montgomery Mall.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the event – emceed by Lady E, who will also sing “How Much Is That Doggy in the Window?” – will feature a canine education health and wellness expo, complete with trick-or-treating for dogs, a parade poop break and treats at 1:30 p.m., and a costume contest at 2 p.m.

This event is being produced in memory of Margaret Catherman, kennel manager of Pets Plus.

This production is also being showcased to bring awareness of the current crisis at pet shelters after the pandemic. It is also being used as a vehicle to bring traffic to the mall. 

Contestants had to pre-register for the event. There will be special guest judges, prizes and surprises, and music from DJ Chris Smith of Gallagher Entertainment.

The contest will feature awards for Most Creative, Best Human & Dog Combo, Funniest, Best in Show, LGBT Pride, and Cutest.

Sponsors include Pets Plus Natural, BuxMont Awards, Minuteman Press-Ambler, Grocery Outlet Lansdale, Tony Laguda Formal Wear in Ambler, Wegmans, Novaprobe, JCPenney, and S&B Sports Collectibles.
