If you are looking for something fun to do this week in communities in Montgomery and Bucks counties, check out some fun offerings taking place this week in the region:


SCHWENKSVILLE BOROUGH

Schwenksville haunts the town with its annual Halloween Parade Thursday night from 7 to 9, starting at Heidelberg UCC at Perkiomen Avenue and 2nd Street. An event running since 1956, the all-ages party has cash prizes awarded to the scariest, most original, best character, and best group costumes. The parade runs from the church to Centennial Street, ending with a post-parade party in the old Univest lot at 415 Main St.


UPPER GWYNEDD TOWNSHIP

Home At Last Dog Rescue holds its 10th annual 5K Run, Dog Walk and Fall Fair at Parkside Place Park in Upper Gwynedd on Saturday at 9 a.m.  The event draws around 1,500 participants and looks to double it this year.  

Since 2009, HAL has adopted out more than 20,000 dogs and the festival is a way to connect with the local community, reunite HAL alumni, and raise funds to cover vet costs, operational expenses, and supplies. Four-legged and two-legged friends are welcome to have fun, eat food, walk and have a blast Costumes are encouraged for all with a costume contest. HAL is looking for Event Sponsors, Fall Fair Vendors, Raffle Basket Item donations, and volunteers for day of, as well as runners. Check out more here.


DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH

Discover Doylestown hosts a Spooktacular Parade and Costume Contest on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the downtown borough. Costumed friends are welcome to trick-or-treat throughout the downtown, with the parade meeting at the Bucks County Administration Building at 55 E. Court St., before parading down Pine Street to East State Street.

After a costume contest, trick-or-treating will occur and restaurants and stores with orange and black balloons outside are participating in the event.

Doylestown Borough holds its BoOorough Bash Trunk or Treat and Halloween Party at Broad Commons Park on Doyle Street Wednesday at 6 p.m. Activities include trunk-or-treat with local community groups and businesses, pumpkin bowling, Halloween crafts with Busy Bee Toys, face painting, glitter tattoos with The Learning Experience, glow yoga with The Yoga Gnome, bonfires, and live music by Nook Nook students.

There will be food from Jules Thin Crust Pizza food truck and Kona Ice.


HATBORO

The Hatboro Halloween Stroll, presented by Union Library Company of Hatboro and The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce, takes place Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 along York Road in Hatboro. Businesses open their doors to the costumed children of the town for trick-or-treating.


AMBLER

The Montgomery County LGBT Business Council holds its 3rd Annual Fall Fest 2024 at The Meadow at Ambler Yards, 300 Brookside Ave., on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Invitees can meet Montco-area LGBTQ+ friendly businesses at the event, sponsored by Ithrive, Materese Family Law, Ehrlich Alexander Leibowitz Gold and Schwartz PC and Holly Days Nursery. Vendors include Well Crafted Beer Co., Laine’s Gluten-Free Bakery, Little’s Ice Cream & Water Ice, Just B Real Fitness, Punkie’s Vine2dVine Tarot and Oracle, and Backcountry Bites.

The event also features activities for all ages, selfie photo opps, a costume contest, and trick-or-treating. Dogs are welcome.

 

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP

The Abington Township Shade Tree Commission will give away 300 native trees to township residents only – up to two per household  – at no cost on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at 2595 Rubicam Ave., Willow Grove. Pre-registration is recommended, and trees must be picked up by 11 a.m. Trees not picked up by 11 a.m. will be given away first-come, first-served between 11:01 a.m. and noon.

The trees are in 5-gallon containers and are between three to eight feet tall. Optional deer protection for trees will be available.
