Man charged with attempted aggravated assault in Upper Providence stabbing Saturday morning, police say

An Upper Providence Township man has been charged, arraigned, and jailed on two counts of felony attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as numerous assault, terrorism and possessing an instrument of crime misdemeanors, in connection with a stabbing that occurred in an Upper Providence Township home early Saturday morning.

Jack M. Judge Sr., 59, of Oaks School Drive, Upper Providence Township, has also been charged with two misdemeanor counts each of possessing an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, and simple assault, and one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and recklessly endangering another person, according to the Montgomery County criminal docket.

Judge Sr. had a bedside arraignment on Sunday morning at 2:30 a.m. by Magisterial District Judge Denise Ashe, police said, who set bail at $50,000 cash.

Montgomery County emergency radio dispatch reported at 2:02 a.m. Saturday that a woman was stabbed in the chest, arms and stomach, and a man was stabbed in the hand at a home on the 200 block of Oaks School Drive.

Upper Providence Township Police Chief U. Mark Freeman said officers were dispatched to the home for a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival, police encountered a male and female victim, who had injuries consistent with a knife or sharp object, Freeman said.

Freeman said Judge Sr. resisted arrest but was eventually detained. Due to injuries suffered in the incident, Judge Sr. was taken to Phoenixville Hospital, Freeman said. There, he was arraigned bedside, treated and released to authorities after failing to post bail, he said.

Both victims were taken to Paoli Hospital for treatment of injuries, he said. Their conditions are unknown as of Sunday.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 28 at 9 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar.
