Saturday will be the only time that it is OK for things to get very hot at the North Penn Vol. Fire Co. in North Wales Borough.

The fire company hosts its 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff event from Noon to 4 p.m. in its ladder and engine bays at its fire station.

A $10 ticket gets attendees unlimited chili tastings and a free drink at its Engine Bay Beer Garden.

The event is currently sold out with chili chefs from the area, but the fire company is still seeking sponsors and raffle baskets for the event.

Raffle baskets must have a value of $100 or more to be considered for the raffle. Sponsors receive a social media shoutout leading up to the event and recognition at the event, and one free ticket.

Winners of the chili cookoff will be announced at 3 p.m.

Chefs from local restaurants and amateurs will go head-to-head to compete for numerous awards, according to Colin Beatty.

The event will have giveaways and a 50/50 as well.

Major sponsors include Foulkeways at Gwynedd, KeyBank, Alley Automotive in North Wales, J.L. Freed Honda, Ambler Savings Bank, and Penn Pro Roofing/Penn Pro Heating & Cooling.

Purchase general admission tickets here for $5 and to sign up as a raffle basket sponsor.
