A 19-year-old Quakertown man was injured in a fiery crash in a Sellersville cemetery Thursday night and police said speed was a factor in the wreck.

Perkasie Borough Police said the accident involved a 2011 Honda CRV, occurring at 9 p.m. at Ninth Street in Sellersville Borough, east of Main Street.

Police said the crash was a result of speeding and loss of control when the driver – Ryan Acker – lost control entering the curve in the roadway. Acker was taken by medics from Grand View Hospital to the hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.

The road was closed during the investigation and was reopened at 10:55 p.m., police said.

Perkasie Police were assisted by Sellersville Fire Co. and Grand View Hospital Medic 151.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police said there was one witness to the crash, but any other witnesses can call 215-257-6876 to speak with Perkasie Police.

One witness to the crash was Sebastian Concannon, of Dublin Borough.

“This guy was following me on my bumper all through Ridge Road and Perkasie, and blew past me once we passed a cop,” said Concannon, adding that seconds later the car had crashed into the cemetery.

Concannon said that he was with friends and his sister looking at the Northern Lights at Keller’s Church when they packed up to go home.

“My sister followed behind me, but when she made the turn, this car with a missing headline came flying up behind her and rode her bumper, until she made a left,” said Concannon, describing the Honda that would later flip on its side and burst into flames. “They proceeded to do the same to me, and it didn’t matter how much I sped up.”

Concannon said that even after dropping off one friend at his house, the same vehicle returned “again on my bumper, same car, missing headlight.”

“He was on my bumper through Perkasie, and as we passed a cop, he backed off a little,” said Concannon. “I got to a four-way stop, move forward, and he gunned it past me, missed my car by inches.”

After his harrowing experience, Concannon was interested to see the consequences of this unknown driver’s actions.

“I popped a U-turn to see him get pulled over, because the cop turned around,” he said. “He flew down the street, lost control, and went through the cemetery gate.”

Concannon said that, until the story was posted on Central Bucks Now, he’d thought that the occupants of the car had passed away.

“We saw the car flipped sideways and catch on fire,” he said. “A bunch of people came out to ask us what happened. Police were closing down the road.”

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
