The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Thursday that construction has been completed on a project to replace the Callowhill Road bridge over a branch of Pleasant Spring Creek in Hilltown Township, Bucks County.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor replaced the bridge and widened the roadway from 18 feet to 23 feet. Other improvements included pavement reconstruction, guiderail installation, and new signage and pavement markings.

The 117-year-old structure was closed September 2021 due to damage sustained from the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Prior to closing, the bridge was posted with a 34-ton weight limit and carried approximately 5,773 vehicles daily.

Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, York County, was the general contractor on this $1,763,335 project, which was financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
