Technology contract focusing on records digitization takes up lions share of package
More than $3.6 million was authorized at a recent Montgomery County Commissioners’ meeting to fund a series of county contracts.
Montgomery County’s elected officials designated money during a Sept. 18 meeting to further projects related to assets and infrastructure, human resources, information and technology solutions, planning commission and voter services.
The lion’s share of the seven-figure agreement package was related to updating an existing technology contract with ARC, of King of Prussia.
While the initial agreement covered the “digitalization and destruction [of] approximately 10,000 boxes of files in the archives division,” more than $1.56 million was required to secure “additional archives digitization services required for county archives, including records indexing services, small format document scanning, bookmark creation, and Indexing records that are not in the archives database for [the] prothonotary, clerk of courts, district attorney and health and human services.”
The additional funds came from the county’s capital improvement program, making the revised value $2.94 million, according to the contract.
A roughly $413,233 contract with Strouse Landscaping Inc., of Schwenksville, covered asphalt paving services at seven Montgomery County parks, trails and historic sites. The six-figure agreement extends to dealing with improvements related to sub base preparation, binder and wearing courses, porous paving, pavement markings, permanent restoration and top soil backup, according to the contract.
The following locations were expected to receive improvements: the Upper Schuylkill Valley Park parking lot in Royersford; the Perkiomen Trail at Green Lane Park in Green Lane; the Hollywood trailhead and access road at Central Perkiomen Valley Park in Schwenksville; the maintenance driveway and pathways of Lorimer Park in Huntingdon Valley; lot two and the staff parking lot of the Norristown Farm Park in East Norriton Township and the Byberry Road parking lot of the Pennypack Trail in Huntingdon Valley.
Funding for the paving project is expected to come from the county’s capital improvement program.
A $399,525 agreement with Maher Duessel, of Pittsburgh, covered auditing services for the county’s 2024 annual financial report. The three-year agreement included two optional annual renewal terms, with funding from the county’s general-operational budget.
In addition, a $142,700 agreement with Rettew Associates Incorporated of Berwyn, Chester County, covered design and engineering services related to the Schuylkill River Trail Bridge renovation.
Specifications included “engineering, environmental permitting and construction consultation” for the bridge situated over Manor Road in Whitemarsh Township, according to the contract. The county’s capital improvement program was listed as the expected funding source.
