New Britain Township Police are warning drivers this week of roving DUI patrols in the area on Thanksgiving Eve.

Police said that Thanksgiving Eve has become a traditional time for people to gather with friends, co-workers and former classmates to celebrate the holiday.

"Some of you will hire a ride share, some of you will decide on a friend to be the designated driver, some of you will call your parents or siblings, and some of you might even walk. Well done," police said. For those of you who choose to drive while impaired, we will be looking for you."

Police will be patroling the night before Thanksgiving in the township.

"If you choose to drink and drive and are stopped by New Britain Township Police officers, remember, it was your choice," police said. "It was your choice to recklessly put others in danger."

Police said officers would rather citizens get home safely than to be locked up for DUI. Authorities recommended pre-planning with friends and family, or use a ride share services.
