Home On Main, a vintage and antique furniture and accessory reseller that supports nonprofit Marvin's Home, is moving and closing its doors at its 810 West Main Street location in Lansdale and invites the community to one last sidewalk sale this weekend.

“We need to clear out a lot of high-quality used furniture and offering things at great prices. If you have any interest in vintage antique, one of a kind, please come by the store Friday,” said founder and owner Mel McDaniel.

Everything in the 10,000-square-foot warehouse and store must go, and organizers are asking the community to turn out Friday.

All proceeds benefit local youth aging out of foster care. Marvin’s Home creates and furnishes homes for youth who have been homeless or have aged out of the foster care system and head toward independent living.

“People are going to walk out with some unbelievable bargains – chairs, tables, furniture, art, home goods — but the best part: 100% of proceeds from this massive indoor and outdoor sidewalk sale will go to Marvin’s Home,” said McDaniel.

The Harleysville designer opened Home on Main in the fall of 2022, but the idea for this unique up-cycled home store started several years ago as a companion shop to Marvin’s Home, also founded by McDaniel.

According to her, the concept is simple: Gently pre-owned items and one-of-a-kind vintage pieces are carefully curated and sold to fund the nonprofit’s mission.

To date, the charity has furnished 83 homes for young adults who are moving into their own apartments after aging out of the foster care system, she said.

“We use donated items to design and outfit empty spaces, turning them into homes for the youth we serve,” said McDaniel.

Volunteers collect and transport furniture and furnishings, often generously donated by McDaniel’s interior design clients and by other designers’ clients all over the region, to transform empty apartments into warm and welcoming homes.

“We’re excited for this transition as we continue to help make homes for those who are aging out of the foster care system,“ McDaniel said.
