The Jamison & Mitcham families restored and opened the historic Sumneytown Hotel to the public in July 2022 and are honored to share in the rich history of the 263 year-old meeting place from which great food, drinks, & memories for generations have been shared. 

The mission of Sumneytown Hotel is to be a destination for excellence in hospitality which at its center is people, artistry, and generosity. Sumneytown Hotel is the Jamison family's third location; you can also find them at Limeport Inn (Center Valley, Pa) and Jamison Publick House (Pennsburg, Pa).

In the two years of operation, Sumneytown Hotel accolade highlights include winning "Best Atmosphere" (Community Connections Magazine 2023) and Head Chef Nydia Fornelos winning "Best Chef" (Montgomery County's Happening List Magazine 2024). It was hard not to be star struck when actor and comedy icon Dan Aykroyd was a lunch guest this fall while meeting with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board distribution team about his spirit, Crystal Head Vodka.

    


This 50-seat restaurant has quickly become known for their cozy, historically-restored building, attentive service staff, and folk inspired cuisine where guests experience earthy, exciting, and inviting flavors for all the senses. Chef Fornelos, of Harlesyville, is a creative force committed to sourcing sustainable ingredients which has fostered an ongoing relationship with purveyors such as Living Hope Farm and Salmon To You.

The menu features weekly specials and taps into her Portuguese family history while also nodding at the Pennsylvania Dutch settlement in the area. Fornelos also designs bi-annual Chef's Table prix fixe dinner events such as “From Sailor to Siren”, an inspired seven course experience presented as part of Sumneytown Hotel's second anniversary celebration in August 2024 where guests went on an exciting culinary journey through sea, land, and fire.

In addition to being committed to culinary excellence, the restaurant centers community building and offers arts programming throughout the year curated by General Managers Jessica and Brian Mitcham. 

"We hope guests feel like they are exactly where they are meant to be - that when with us, they experience something artful and generous," said Jessica.

There is an ongoing Music Monday series twice a month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., which features diverse music styles ranging from blues, folk, jazz, funk, bluegrass, roots rock and has become a launchpad for artists to play their own original compositions. 

    


There is also a once a month conversation series, Speakeasy Saturdays. These are three-course $60 per person prix fixe lunch & presentation of unique topics lead by guest speakers scheduled from November - May. Topics have included, Sumneytown landmarks, book readings by local authors, local environment issues like bird migration & litter cleanups, folk art & cultural customs, and US historical events that are relative to the region. 2024/25 Speakeasy events listed below.
