The world of finance is complicated and ever-changing, with new laws, regulations, technologies, and trends to account for and plan around. While most people do not make navigating its currents and tides into a career, it’s a sea that almost everyone has to cross at least once. Some people invest, others start businesses, and there are always taxes to consider, but for most people, the most significant venture into finance comes in preparing for, and living out, their retirement.
For retirees especially, and everyone else in general, financial planning is an incredibly important and valuable process to undergo, and it pays to do so with the guidance of an expert. Eric Weschke is one such expert; he’s a 30 year veteran of the financial services industry with an extensive background in institutional investment theory and comprehensive financial planning with a focus on tax-efficient retirement income solutions, asset protection, and risk management. Through his company, Advanced Folio Capital Management, he’s able to leverage his experience and resources to build lasting relationships and ensure his clients’ financial stability, asset preservation, and growth.
Generational Expertise: Origins and Education
Eric Weschke isn’t the first member of his family to demonstrate financial expertise and succeed in the American financial industry. His mother, Catherine Montana, was one of the first women to work the stock exchange floor in the late 1960’s, and Weschke inherited her passion for confidently helping others with their finances. This passion was well supported on both sides; his father ran the Suffolk College engineering department, and so Eric Weschke had a strong mathematical background and education from a young age.
His education continued through high school and college, where he attended the University of Albany to continue his studies and interest in finance and management. His hard work and passion for the subject paid off; he graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science Double Majoring in both Finance and Management Information Systems. Diploma in hand, Weschke immediately jumped into the financial sector and began finding success.
Inspiration and Core Values
Eric Weschke lives by the motto both as a professional and as a private citizen: treat others the way he would like to be treated. From his interpersonal relationships to his professional guidance, his guiding philosophy is built on the foundation of reciprocity and helping others. It’s part of what drove him to be a financial advisor; in his words, “ I am all about providing value and education to my potential clients to give them a better retirement.”
His professional journey has been as much shaped by his inspirations as his core values. While his parents gave him a strong and passionate start, Eric Weschke looks up to Warren Buffet as an industry leader worth emulating. The similarity in their career paths aside, Weschke admires Buffet’s integrity and bold vision—especially in combination with his financial results.
“The most admirable thing for me is how he does not get swayed by the critics, and stays the course in his investing prowess,” Weschke explains. “He has been able to deliver, at the end of the day, a strong and consistent return for his investors. Always striving for excellence!”
Professional Achievements and Successes
In over three decades of professional experience, Eric Weschke has built up a hefty portfolio of successes and accolades. He overlooked and executed orders for the Institutional Pension Fund IGHL, was part of a Senior Executive Syndicate Underwriting team for a $20 million Initial Public Bond Offering, and has been recognized by Comprehensive Planning as Advisor of the Year in 2003. One of the defining moments of his career was in his time at Northwestern Mutual, where in 2004 he was recognized as the #1 Advisor based on new businesses throughout the whole of the United States for 1st year representatives.
“At that point I knew that this business was a great fit for me, with the primary emphasis on wanting to educate and help the public on better solutions to their issues,” Weschke explains.
Eric Weschke has always extended his expertise beyond his client base with speaking arrangements and educational resources. He spoke nationally for various corporations in the United States regarding financial strategies for a successful retirement, and is the former host of “Smart Planning Radio,” a New York-based financial radio show that originally aired in 2004. He still shares his expertise and guidance via his podcast and social media pages today.
Aside from consistently guiding clients toward financial stability and success, Weschke has served in a number of financial leadership positions, including Chief Technical Analyst for the Swing-Trader Market News Letter and Senior Executive VP Lending Officer and North East Region Planner for First National Bank of Arizona. The experience gained in these positions have served him well in the founding and operation of his own business, Advanced Folio Capital Management.
