Two dead after fatal two-car accident sets Teslas, tree, and building on fire in Pipersville

Two occupants of a Tesla sedan died in a fiery crash Friday morning along Easton Road after crashing into a parked Tesla, which ignited nearby trees and a building. 

The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

On Friday at 11:29 a.m., Bedminster Police were called to 6626 Easton Road in the Pipersville section of the township for a reported traffic collision. 

One Tesla, police said, left the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed into the unoccupied parked car outside a business at the address. One of the vehicles struck the building, causing damage, police said.

Police said the driver and passenger of the Tesla succumbed to injuries suffered in the collision.

The incident and cause of the crash remains under investigation. 

"The Bedminster Township Police Department extends its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the individuals involved in this heartbreaking incident," police said Friday evening.

Bedminster Township Police were assisted at the scene by Tinicum Police, Plumstead Fire, Palisades Regional Fire, Doylestown Fire and Chalfont Fire. Point Pleasant EMS also responded to the scene, as well as the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

The report of a fire with an entrapment has rescue crews responding to Pipersville on Friday, just before noon, turned out to have started as a two-car accident. Early reports say two are dead at the scene.

According to emergency dispatch, crews were called to the address of 6626 Easton Road in Pipersville around 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Early reports of a fire in the vicinity of Specialty Products & Services Inc., a division of Aviation and Marine specialty products, included some witness accounts of a tree, building, and two vehicles, one of which was on fire.

Easton Road in Pipersville is closed near Saw Mill Road. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.

It is unclear if the entrapped person was rescued at this time, or if they are possibly one of the deceased. 

Those at the scene said the that the two vehicles came to rest nose-to-nose, and that one, being a white Tesla, was still intact with heavy front-end damage. The second vehicle, however, was completely burned. Its model was indiscernible.  A nearby tree caught on fire due to the car blaze, which then in turn caught the building.

A helicopter on stand-by was called off, and according to first responders at the scene, two are dead because of the incident. The genders nor names have been released.

A coroner has been requested at this hour. Details will be added, as they are released.

Crews responding to the scene included Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company, Hilltown Township Volunteer Fire Company, Sellersville Fire Department, Perkasie Fire Co., Doylestown Fire Company, and Dublin Fire Co., among others.
