An accident has Route 309 in Lower Gwynedd Township closed during the Thursday morning rush hour.

According to county dispatch, emergency crews were called out around 8:19 a.m. to North Bethlehem Pike (Route 309) near Lower State Road for a vehicular accident with injuries.

Early reports noted that two vehicles were flipped in the accident, with a possible entrapment of one person. At least one person was transported by ambulance for medical care.

As of 8:37 a.m., Route 309 is closed to traffic as emergency crews clear the scene. Drivers are asked to avoid the area until the scene has been cleared.

Responding to the scene were units from the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler, Wissahickon Fire Company, VMSC, Lower Gwynedd Township Police Department, among other first responders.
