Bryce Harper won the 2024 NL Silver Slugger award for first basemen on Tuesday night. He previously won the award as an outfielder in 2015 and 2021, and as a designated hitter in 2023.
Harper hit .285/.373/.525 (.898 OPS) with 30 home runs in 145 games to take home the honor. He beat out finalists Pete Alonso and Freddie Freeman, who had fantastic seasons of their own:
- Alonso: .240/.329/.459 (.788 OPS), 34 home runs in 162 games
- Freeman: .282/.378/.476 (.854 OPS), 22 home runs in 147 games

Harper would likely trade his new hardware for Freeman's 2024 World Series ring, or even to have advanced past Alonso's Mets in the NLDS this October. But the Silver Slugger remains a tremendous honor. Ryan Howard (2006) and Pete Rose (1981) are the only other Phillies first basemen to win the award.
Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto were also named NL Silver Slugger finalists at their positions. But Bohm lost out to the Padres' Manny Machado at third base, and Realmuto lost out to the Brewers' William Contreras at catcher.
