2-car crash sends 2 to hospital, backs up rush hour trafffic Friday afternoon

A two-vehicle accident at Bethlehem Pike and Upper State Road/Dekalb Pike in Montgomery Township Friday afternoon sent two people to area hospitals for treatment of injuries and has backed up traffic around the intersection during rush hour.

The accident occurred at 3:42 p.m. and involved a tan Acura sedan and a black SUV, according to reports from the scene. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage. Both cars were blocking the intersection in front of the Lukoil at 913 Bethlehem Pike.

Montgomery Township Fire Police and North Penn Vol. Fire Co. assisted at the scene, alongside Montgomery Township Police.

Northbound Bethlehem Pike/Route 309 is closed from Knapp Road to Upper State Road, as of 4:30 p.m. 

Traffic on Upper State Road approaching the intersection is forced to turn right or left onto 309.
