Local public safety leaders to discuss risks for businesses with emergency management challenges Friday morning

Several local officials will be speaking on the importance of emergency management and public safety during a special seminar presented by The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County on Friday.

“The Safety Struggle: Risks for Local Business Amidst Emergency Management Challenges” will kick off at 8:30 a.m. at the Montgomery Township Community & Recreation Center at 1030 Horsham Road in Montgomeryville.

The event is $10 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members, and includes breakfast.

According to a press release, local leaders in emergency management and public safety organizations will share current challenges in their respective departments that impact service delivery.

The idea is businesses need to be more aware of how staffing and financial constraints can impact them now and in the future. 

Guest speakers include Fire Department of Montgomery Township Chief Bill Wiegman, Montgomery Township Police Chief Scott Bendig, VMSC Emergency Medical Services Chief Shane Wheeler, Lansdale Borough Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Coordinator Rick Lesniak, and Lower Providence Township Police Chief Mike Jackson.

Montgomery Township Manager Carolyn McCreary will moderate the event.
