The North Penn Varsity Knights baseball team is headed to States.

In a rousing bout against Quakertown Varsity Panthers Tuesday evening on their home turf, the Knights varsity baseball team nearly doubled their opponent’s score in the 7-4 win in the PIAA 6A State Qualifier match.

According to GameChanger Media, Chase Jones, Benjamin Farley, and Trevor Lugara were the top players of the game for the Knights, racking up a 5-0 lead by the second inning, thanks to Jones’ two triples, Farley’s home run and Lugara’s southpaw sweetness on the stitches.

This will be the third time in four seasons that the Knights have battled to the States Tournament.

Jones would get a third triple in the game, as well as three RBIs, which he shared with Farley. Lugara struck out four, and gave up eight hits and four runs in six innings.

Losing Quakertown right-handed pitcher Macen Probition gave up two runs on five hits, and struck out four as well. Matt Marsten started for the Panthers, but was pulled after two innings after surrendering six hits and five runs, and saved by Nick Palovich.

Panthers’ Dan Qualteria, Brady Martin, and Carver Perrone kept the bats hot for the home team, but even help from Cole Reich’s two RBIs was not enough to top the Knights.

In the end, perhaps, maybe, there was some Linda Law luck too.

The first round of the 2024 PIAA 6A baseball championship begins June 3, with quarterfinals following on June 6, semifinals on June 10 and the finals set for June 13 at Penn State University’s Medlar Field at Lubrano Park at 4:30 p.m.
