Upon arrival on scene shortly after 4:30 p.m., fire crews found heavy black smoke showing from the roof of the ranch home on the unit block of Chatham Court in the senior living community off East Township Line Road.

By 4:33 p.m., firefighters were working on cutting a hole in the roof for ventilation.
