One of two men that Montgomery Township Police accuse of stealing eight PlayStation 5 consoles from Best Buy has been charged with felony retail theft and receiving stolen property, while an alleged co-defendant continues to be sought by police.

Police said Nahjair Habeeb Corey, 26, of the 600 block of East Thayer Street, Philadelphia, and a second suspect committed the thefts on the morning of Nov. 30, 2023 at the 801 Bethlehem Pike store.

The second suspect, described as a Black male wearing a gray jacket with its hood up and dark-colored pants, has not been identified.

A theft in progress was reported to police by Best Buy at 9:28 a.m. Nov. 30. Police said it was reported that two men entered the store, briefly surveyed it, then went to the PS5 display and selected eight consoles. Then, they walked out the front entrance without paying, continued around the side of the store, and fled in a silver Chevrolet sedan, police said.

A flash drive was given to police containing video footage of the incident and still shots, police said. The eight PS5 consoles were valued at $4,000, according to the complaint.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Corey before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy at 9:45 a.m. July 16.

Corey is also scheduled for a pre-trial conference May 30 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court as a defendant in a felony conspiracy to commit retail theft case out of Upper Providence Township, according to court documents.
