Police locked down the Shoppes at English Village in Horsham Township on Bethlehem Pike for about two hours.
Authorities confirmed that one person was shot early Wednesday morning during an attempted burglary at Jems, Jewels & Gold at The Shoppes at English Village in Horsham Township, causing police to lock down the shopping center for about two hours.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot injury to the arm, according to Montgomery County radio dispatch.
In a news release Wednesday afternoon, police said officers responded shortly after 5 a.m. to the shopping center for a report of an interrupted burglary at the jewelry store.
During the incident, an employee encountered a suspect inside the store and a gun was discharged, police said.
Upon arrival, officers found one suspect in the store suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
Additional unidentified individuals, police said, fled the area before arrival of police.
Police cordoned off the entrance to Jems, Jewels & Gold, and focused their investigation inside the store.
Authorities told North Penn Now that a hole barely big enough for a person to pass through was cut in the wall between the jewelry store and neighboring Waxing the City.
Police said the front door lock was broken off of the entrance to Massage Envy.
"Several stores were affected by the burglars' actions and could not open for business," police said in the release.
According to Fox29, several police responded to the shopping center on the 1400 block of Bethlehem Pike in Horsham Township, some with guns drawn, shortly after 5 a.m.
Per reports, police used a fire truck ladder to climb onto the roof above the jewelry store in the complex for an investigation.
Horsham Township Police had no comment Wednesday morning, and said there was no threat to the public.
The parking lot was reopened to customers around 7:17 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
