71-year-old woman dies from injuries suffered in Bethlehem Pike crash Saturday afternoon

A 71-year-old woman died at Grand View Hospital Saturday from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash earlier in the afternoon on Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Township, according to Hatfield Police.

Police responded to 2420 Bethlehem Pike, in front of Sequoia Supply, at 12:33 p.m. Saturday for a report of a crash.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision, police said, resulting in serious injuries to two of the drivers.


Montgomery County radio traffic indicated drivers were trapped in their vehicles and required rescue and extrication.

The investigation revealed a blue Hyundai Accent sedan, driven by a 40-year-old man, impacted a maroon Hyundai Tucson SUV, which was driven by the deceased, according to police. VMSC personnel reported one driver had non life-threatening injuries, and another had Class 1 immediate life-threatening injuries, according to Montgomery County radio dispatch.

Both were taken by VMSC to Grand View Hospital Trauma Center for treatment, where the woman succumbed to her injuries, police said.  

Police did not release details on the condition of the second driver.

Hatfield Police are not releasing the names of the those involved in the crash at this time.

The accident caused Bethlehem Pike/Route 309 to be closed for seven hours.

Hatfield Fire Co., Colmar Volunteer Fire Co., Towamencin Vol. Fire Co., Hilltown Township Fire, Perseverance Fire Co., Hilltown Township Police, and fire police from Colmar, Telford, Souderton-Perseverance, Towamencin Township, Montgomery Township and Hilltown Township assisted Hatfield Police at the scene.
