At least two people were extricated and rescued from their vehicles following a two-vehicle crash on Route 309 at Unionville Pike Saturday afternoon.

Two patients were taken by VMSC Emergency Medical Services to Grand View Hospital, one with non life-threatening injuries and the second with immediate life-threatening injuries, according to VMSC personnel on Montgomery County radio dispatch.

Route 309 is closed in all directions between Unionville Pike and Sterling Drive in Hatfield Township, and will be "for an extended period of time," according to police.

The vehicles involved are a red SUV and a blue 4-door sedan. Both cars came to rest on opposite sides of Route 309, in front of Sequoia Supply, 2425 Bethlehem Pike.

The crash occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. 

VMSC had both patients at Grand View within 10 minutes.

Hatfield Police, Hatfield Fire Co., Colmar Volunteer Fire Co., Towamencin Vol. Fire Co., Hilltown Township Fire, Perseverance Fire Co. and Fire Police and Colmar Fire Police assisted VMSC at the scene.
